RĀKAU

How we harvest

Mamaeroa follow the maramataka and look for certain tohu in the taiao before harvesting. When it comes to collecting Rongoā, Mamaeroa will always harvest where the Rākau thrives, in its natural environment. For example, Kūmarahou thrives in the North and has a different mauri (life force) than Kūmarahou that grows in Wellington.

Mamaeroa practioners travel to Tūrangi and Te Puke once a month and to Whāngarei, at least two times a year. There they identify and collect Rongoā that many may not have access to in Wellington. We take pride in the quality of our Rongoā and the importance of Plant identification.
